Oh great excitement this morning! We were getting into the car to go and collect Peugeot from Witheridge when I spotted the unmistakeable forked tail attached to a large bird drifting behind the ash tree. Leapt out of car yelling Kite, Kite, and in the process did not think to grab camera. I thought I’d lost sight of it (kite) but then looked up and there it was cruising slowly and low directly over our heads across the garden. Wow. I did see a glimpse last week that I was sure was a kite but it was heading north away from us and I couldn't be 100% sure. They are not seen here you see. So this could be a portent that they're spreading from the Welsh Marches.
On a more domestic note, two pheasant chicks have survived and were brought for their tea yesterday by mother and two aunts.
err. Do kites like pheasant?
Yet more roses are coming out.
Roseraie de la haie, Complicata and
Félicité et Perpétue.
Blackbird’s nest is behind the latter, which makes photographing it tricky!
