This morning I just sat in the sun making a base out of left over willow, accompanied by Mr Pheasant who hovered about moving from one sunny spot to another to take his ease. He’s starting to look a bit ragged, poor old chap! After which, I took up the shears and cut down the faded cow parsley on the roadside bank. Too hot! Everything is bone dry and bleached despite efforts at watering essential plants.
Today’s tally of new flowering includes two roses. Charles de Mills, Gallica (spot the aphids - they are bad this year),
and Rosa Glauca with its almost insignificant single pink flowers and glorious blue/grey foliage.
The blue iris in the ponds are coming out.
This one took three days
No sighting of kite today but we did spot it yesterday evening as we walked back up the road.
