God morgen. Det er mandag morgen, klokka er halv ni. Jeg sitter ved bordet på kjøkkenet og spiser frokost. Jeg spiser ristet brød med smør og syltetøy (well actually marmelade) og jeg drikker en kopp te. Sola skinner inn gjennom vinduet. 🌞
Enough!
Now I’m back into basket mode I felt it was time to sort out the willow store. I only have half the workshop now as Adrian uses the other side for...well who knows! He listens to the radio and keeps the garden tools in fine fettle, even takes the laptop there to compose his thoughts. So the other day I turfed everything out of my side onto the lawn and swept the floor, windows and tables of dust, remains of bluetit (😢) and a huge stash of nibbled cherry stones. The fieldmice take them in and feast to their hearts’ content. Strangely though we see very little evidence of the actual mice. A couple of empty nests once but no damage. Bits of used willow saved for a rainy day were consigned to the bonfire, other bundles were laid out and sorted into length and thickness. Then neatly tied and propped against the wall. Very satisfying!
It’s warm and sunny and I think I may risk leaving the tomatoes out overnight now. No? Well I’ll assess the situation this evening. Potatoes are shooting up. Courgettes slowly growing more leaves but seem to be suffering slug attack. Seeds ordered from Thompson and Morgan weeks ago have still not arrived so I have complained. It’ll be too late soon.
The notion took us to clear out the little pond this afternoon. It was getting choked with reeds and fern. I never need an excuse to remove the latter! So Adrian bravely stuck his hand into the sludge and removed roots and debris. We now have twice the surface area - more room for BB to bathe. He likes to wade in and cool his chest on hot days.
