The Horror, The Horror

It was very cold last night and only 7 Degrees at breakfast time. There was still the vicious north easterly, so despite the sunshine it was not outside weather. The Day of Doom was upon us - decorating the living room. First the ritual sugar soaping of the surfaces...oh dear!

But before that the television had to be moved.  We knew what to expect having done this before but every time it gets worse. The lovely wool carpet is eaten and stained by mildew under the TV stand. There must be some damp in that corner. Really we should take up a strip of carpet and tile that bit. Then years of chimney smoke were wiped off the walls.

Finally the fun bit- what am I saying! Paint and rollers exhumed from somewhere and battle commenced. I am The Designated Roller Operative and doer of ceilings. Spitter spatter, in my eyes, all over my face and arms, a veritable walking Jackson Pollock.

Half the room done.  It looks much better and at least it’s clean and bright.
