Getting Supplies

As luck would have it we are technically ‘existing customers’ at both Waitrose and Sainsbury online, thanks to a couple of times we ordered in the dim past. So once the initial rush had overwhelmed all supermarket home delivery services and they restructured their operations, we managed to get ourselves into the system. This has meant we are often somewhat overstocked! The need for milk and butter means all sorts of other things have to be ordered to make up the required spend. You can forget flour or certain pastas though. These are always mysteriously unavailable by the delivery date.

Adam - now a key worker - says flour is the new loo roll. We are so proud of him. He stacks and picks and packs to keep Bath and NE Somerset fed! (Thinks...does that include Rees-Mogg? No, surely his footman goes to Fortnum’s).

Chawleigh Village shop has also stepped up to the plate and delivers all sorts of groceries - even newspapers for those who still buy one. However when I ordered double cream, what came was ...well...Elmlea!*

* for those who like me have no real idea what this is...a mix of buttermilk and suspect hydrogenated oils plus other unmentionables. It won’t be consumed.
